My article in German (non German speaking folks, read on) on "Aggregatstabellen mit Firebird" (aggregate tables with Firebird) is now available as download.

This article basically describes a mechanism for pre-aggregating measures in an OLAP database for speeding up aggregate queries, which are common for OLAP scenarios.

The article also presents an implementation of the discussed mechanism in a Firebird 2.1 database in combination with the Open Source OLAP Server Mondrian, which can take advantage of aggregate tables due to its "Query Rewriting" engine.

If there is a bunch of folks out there, who are interested for an English version, I might be able to do that.

The Firebird 2.1 database with the aggregate table implementation is available for a small fee (what would be appropriate? perhaps 15 EUR? contact me, if you are seriously interested).
